Jeez if I hear one more person blubbing over the hundred... how many of the one day
12 One Day Cup Games did you watch, listen too or attend this weekend? When was the last time you attended a Championship match? These games do not make money for the counties . The none hosting counties in the hundred recived £24 million each last year. The hosting counties recieve the same plus an additional £18m. It guarantees the future of these county teams and the feed through to the international side and allows them to invest how they wish.
On top of that The Hundred is popular and enjoyable. Purists can turn their noses up... that is their prerogative. And I get it. But do not underestimate the gateway to the sport this is providing for youngsters and those who had no previous interest.
I spent the day yesterday at Trent Bridge watching two matches played to the highest level, with close finishes and some of the top names in the sport, surrounded by predeominately families, all having the best of times. We left having seen the Rocket's men win with two balls to spare in a game full of quality cricket and thrilling twists and turns.
