phantosmia: freaked the s**t out of me yesterday

two days ago i f**ked up and got a blunt force head injury when a big lump of wood cracked me on the back of the skull. my fault i was building a log store and had clamped a 2.4m length of timber up along the front of the store and bent down to pick up the drill and one of the clamps failed and the whole piece of timber cut lose and it whacked me on the very base of the back of the noggin.

i wobbled about a bit but then shrugged it off and carried on. then yesterday things went rapidly south and i had a couple of weird dizzy spells which were pretty trippy but what totally freaked me out was this phenomena of experiencing a totally overwhelming awful smell that i don't have the words to describe other than it was a smell of severe impending doom. it frit me up so much i got a taxi up to the emergency dept at the n&n.

after some tests and that i learnt from the emergency dept consultant that the thing is called "phantosmia" and little is known about it but it's not uncommon.

best bit was as i suppose as it was a head injury i was in and out of the hosp within 3 hours which must be pretty close to a world record and i slept the sleep of a champion last night. stay safe out there ladies.
