I don;t have a problem with him stepping down if that's how he feels
But don't film yourself making the announcement in the dressing room on the morning of a day's play, don't announce it at 3.25 so its timed for whilst you are bowling just before the tea break (after which actually the team came out with zero intensity and let them get 50 crucial runs quite quickly) and don't then chuck away what little chance we had in the match with some egocentric effort to win it single handedly by opening the batting and slogging which then spreads to the rest of your impulsive upper order.
I don't think he "meant" for it to be as self indulgent as it was. I think he was just blinded by a desire to be a hero and win one more game dramatically for his team and probably also to stick two fingers up to someone/people at the ECB. But as I have said, it kind of sums up Bazball and our time under his captaincy. Sometimes it comes off. More often than not it probably hasn't. Its usually entertained. Its often frustrated.
