nice one centurion

i was out on the river this afternoon *nice* got back and as i'm throwing the canoe on the roof of the car and putting my gear away a car bowls up with young family in who proceed to unpack loads of brand new paddleboarding gear still in it's packaging.

the dad says it was a sudden impulse that morning so they all tripped up to go-outdoors and bought 2 new paddleboards and all the kit; paddles, life preservers, wetsuits 👀, paddling foootwear, the lot. kids are about eight and six but both of them in life preservers so.. 👍👍

fella asked me about how it was out there and it's clear they have no idea what they are doing. he didn't even know what side of the river to be on. so i explained a few bits about the river and the broad. he's now got a foot pump out and he's struggling a bit to inflate paddleboard number one, so i offer to pump the other on up as i've got an electric pump in the back of car.

cheers mate he says, so i do the honours like a duty good bloke.

which is a really good thing to do in retrospect, because this affords mum and dad the opportunity to sit in the boot of their car and neck a tin of beer each. 😳

she says "thanks very much" and that she might well go for a swim as she is "busting for a piss now after necking that beer!"
