I think the Tories (or most of them at least) understood business and the markets better

or at least were not so blinded by ideology that they were more pragmatic about things.

Generally, although admittedly not all of them.

They at least understood that the way you stimulate growth is to make it easier for businesses to thrive, expand and employ people and not to clobber them from all angles whilst claiming to promote a growth agenda.
