St John's and Red Cross ambulances aren't routinely linked to the 999 despatch system.

They help out at events (sports, concerts, etc.) but can be mobilised by the NHS during major incidents or high demand periods. The Red Cross likewise are mostly used for patient transport. In contrast the Hatzola ambulances are linked to 999 dispatch and go to emergencies in their local communities.
