Technology in football

May have claimed its first "victim" last night. Not only is there now a 5th Official in the stands, the referee and linesmen are wired with microphones and earpieces.

On the replays you can see the incident right infront of the ref, who then says someting to no-one in particular (His lips are moving while looking downwards). Some time elapses after Rooney has been pulled away by Hargreaves after pushing Ronaldo, and *then* the ref blows, pulls him to one side and sends him off.

I have a suspicion the ref has asked "Bob, I think I saw a stamp" and got a reply from the 5th official "Yes, he stamped on him" at which point he sends him off.

Just a thought.
