Not sure what I think

The whole point of a league to is to rank teams over a season, so playoffs of any kind are inconsistent with a league format.

But, it's also an entertainment business and keeping the league alive helps, and the playoffs themselves are entertaining.

Everyone knows the rules up front. So best win the league and go up automatically. Unless we're s**t, in which case let's come 8th and fluke it.
