we need to talk about storm "claudia"

one of the bbc's top earning presenters is claudia winkleman and everybody but everyone pronounces her first name as "clawdier".

everyone.

however, every single tv presenter when referring to storm claudia pronounces it as "cloudier".

yep, this is exactly what i've woken up to to fret over my cornflakes with this morning.

are they doing this deliberately to irritate the great british public or, is it just the subconscious connotation that as it is weather related then the "cloudier" storm related appelation is more apt? therefore it wouldn't be unreasonable would it to suggest if a zoo was to name a new bear cub "claudia" it would be pronounced "clawdier" because of the fact that bears are historically often quite clawy.

i need to go for a good walk and think about what my brain is up to.

stand at ease
