How did Britain become so divided ? Is there a way forward?

A genuine ponder , watching some clips of the weekends protests, that appear all over the county. How did we get here? There was never this absolute division of people, protest and counters continually.

Is it the lack of MSM influence, social media now polarising people like never before.

I suppose the genie is out of the bottle , and it's never going back.

Opinions on here arr much like society, lots of the extremes and lots of silence.
I just get a feeling we are on a downward trajectory of polarising politics , and hatred. Its not going to improve is it ?

Maybe Im just an old duffer who remembers a more peaceful time
