You do know how "interest" is generated...

my father when I was about seven sat with me and explained the game and so grew my interest.

That doesn't happen for many, so they maybe form their own interest, or they form none. I've attended 8 Hundred matches now and you can see it. The kids aren't getting exposed to cricket on the BBC like I was. The atmosphere at these ground is amazing.

I'm old enough to remember people saying similar about the 40 over game as opposed to the 50; and then surely you can remember the hulabaloo about T20?

I was seven. I didn't attend my first test match until I was in my thirties. I've attended over two dozen since. Plus One day matches, County games, T20, and Hundred. Never missed a game on TV though.

You won't see any Hundred shirts at Test Matches in the same way that people tend not to wear their club shirts at England footie.

Financially the county clubs were, and are, struggling. The Blast, etc. are not cutting it - they are not earning enough money, bar the exceptions like Lords, Oval etc. The Hundred has already brought in £28m for each county and that is just the first down payment. And like it or loath it, with the amount of outside investment going in, it won't be long until there are foreign Hundred tournments.
