I'm loathe to defend Knapper but

We don't know he doesn't have anyone in mind. I would hope he has a number of clear ideas.

Some of those might not be available/willing to talk until the end of the season so it makes sense to wait it out.

On the other hand of we do go for Gaz O'Neil (best of the names that have been floated imo) then I'd agree with you more. Would have been better to make an immediate move for him and introduce him to the crowd on the final day.
