I think it should be one technical CM (a la nunez), and two that have good engines and run their bollocks off.

The front three has to have two players with decent pace, so that when Cordoba and Duffy get pressed hard, there is either space in the midfield right in front of them for an easy pass, because the opposition are keeping more players back to deal with our threat in behind, or there is space over the top.

Teams that press very hard must be leaving space somewhere else. With pace up front, we can exploit that, with Sainz and Crnac, we can’t.

I could see that system working, but requires us to stop focusing on dominating possession when teams are pressing hard. It’s ok to focus on possession when the opposition are letting us have it. I.e. there needs to be some flexing of our tactics / approach depending on the opposition style….
