We invaded Mesopotamia, and occupied Basra. (a city, you cant invade a city)

The Germans didn't invade Baghdad. They didn't even occupy Baghdad. I don't recall there even being that many Germans there, except for a few military advisors. Mesopotamia was Turkish, who were German allies. The arabs simply fought everybody, including themselves. Plus ca change, plus ca la meme chose.

But I do happen to agree with you that Bush & Bliar should be held accountable for the f**k up they've made of the occupation.

(whilst respectfully disagreeing with you about whether we should have gone in at all)
