As mentioned to USAC, I think it all depends on your perspective

If you live in the 3rd world then someone having £1000 would seem rich.

In the US/UK, personally I would consider somebody who can food shop without looking at the prices, buy a car without credit and able to afford foreign holidays (and yes USAC, that includes cruises) as being 'comfortable' but certainly not 'rich'.

If you had to put a figure on it, I would say having a liquid net worth of at least £5m would classify somebody as 'wealthy'. To me, 'rich' means even more money than wealthy, but then you are just getting into semantics.

Getting back to my original point to our captive board troll, the 'rich' are very unlikely to spend their money on a floating petri dish with several thousand other overweight pensioners.
