It is perfectly possible that excellent coaching

(& player-motivation) just does not work in some situations.

Look at our managerial heroes:
Saunders - took WBA to only their second post-war relegation & failed to bounce back. Sacked
Bond - Hated at Burnley, relegated Birmingham (sacked) & relegated Shrewsbury
Lambert - Relegated Stoke & Ipswich
