conversely

It shows that he was well regarded by one player, in a different setup, with a different squad.

The coaching of the team, is a team effort.

What we saw here was a squad that was looking progressively less fit and motivated.

I know that your point (consistent to a fault) is that the players should take equal, if not greater blame.

Which is all great in theory, but you can't sack all the playing staff (altho you can discipline those who aren't engaging or who are disruptive). Ultimately, it's the coaches' job to get a song out of the squad - and for whatever reason that wasn't happening.

The direction of travel (getting worse) and lack of a plan were my main complaints.

Also, I'd be interested to understand the logic behind your repeated position that you'd have sacked (or will sack) whoever takes us up?

I guess it would depend on the manager we could entice, but it'd be intriguing to hear what your idea of post promotion would look like, as personally I'd be pretty concerned about the disruption to (what would be) a winning team.
