Before I joined. I’d seen them at the Labour Club on Bethal Street and somehow I ended up playing drums for them. We practised in a little terrace house opposite Tinklers motorcycles on Northumberland st. Only did a couple of gigs. The next band was my main one. Did a few gigs around Norwich, recorded a single at Raven Studios at the uea village (Howard Turner was the chap who produced it and I now am in touch with him on FB)
It was amazing to take the 24 track tape down to London and watch it being cut into a wax plate in a basement on Portland place. A few weeks later we picked up the pressed singles, 500 I think, from the factory in south london.
Put it this way, I think we ended up left with about 400 between us!
We moved down to London and had a showcase arranged with London Records and Rough Trade but 2 weeks before the date, our singer left, never to be heard from again. We stayed in London for 4 months and could find a replacement that we liked and slowly returned to Norwich one by one. I gave up after that.
