Before this Russell looked to be on an upward trajectory to top level club management/coaching.

I'm guessing many clubs turned him down because of this. Not because of his work or ability.

When you drink, your ability to think logically and rationally is clearly impaired.
Hopefully this was a huge wake up call and he can rebuild his life and career.
