Couldn’t agree more.
Every week there’s another empty gesture, another minutes applause, some new coloured laces, an armband. Seemingly endless entries in the grief olympics.
It’s sad that these things happen obviously, but it’s not really relevant to the game is it? There’s a time and a place to show respects.
Like you said, I wouldn’t have the entitlement to ask a load of strangers to applaud for a family member. Gone are the days of dealing with these things in private.
