You can see the general direction of travel: this isn’t putin’s fault - he has been misled by the army/intelligence.

They’ll now be wargaming whether it’s winnable if they double down and mobilise for war, or if they should de-escalate and blame (purge) the army leadership. Much depends on how the messaging is landing with the political class and elites.

Suspect Xi will also be key to this, as Russia won’t be able to fight a war without being supplied by somewhere more reliable than Iran and N Korea.

Fascinating times ahead.
