Ultimately this is the problem. Lack of quality.

It all comes back to Emi and the players we spent the Emi money on.

Emi was a genius, certainly at Championship level. He was the X factor in both promotion seasons, and we know only too well what our record was like without him.

When he left, we spent the Emi money on Rashica, Sarge and Tzolis. One of them was so poor they’re not even here anymore. Rashica had a few flashes last season, but it’s clear he is incapable or producing actual chances or goals. And Sarge is, I’m afraid, rubbish, other than being really good at running around. Cantwell was alright yesterday, but that midfield 3, in front of Kenny and Lungi, is not even close to what is needed.

As a result we’ve lost Emi, and added three players at a total cost of 30m that have made us worse than if we’d have just stuck with Onel and the Germans.

We now need every single one of the new signings to be really good - top 2 championship level with little bedding in period - or were staring down the barrel of a very long season.

I’ll be honest, I’ve got a very bad feeling about this season already. I just don’t see where the goals are coming from. Sara and this fella from Chile need to be amazing, or we’ll be lucky to scrape into 6th. No pressure then!
