50000 is a tiny number in global terms. They have millions of worldwide fans (and loads of their home tickets go to foreign tourists). These aren't local clubs any more, they're global brands. In the Super League (it wasn't going to be called the EUROPEAN Super League incidentally, just the Super League - that isn't a coincidence) they could play their home games anywhere in the world and make way more money than by playing them all at Old Trafford.
