They don’t want the whole of Ukraine

They want the land bridge to Crimea and as much of the coast as they can get.

The main event is the East. Kyiv was meant to be the bargaining chip / depose the Govt

They are buggering it all up in terms of logistics (plus launched it all later than they’d intended -see eg tanks bogging down in fields that are now thawing out) but militarily they aren’t massively far off securing the main objectives in the East.

Remains to be seen how far they push things in an effort to try to secure more leverage. RuAF has barely been used and plenty of artillery and bodies to throw at it (obvious risk that the harder they push the worse sanctions get)

Politically it’s a total f**k up.

EU has found its balls, NATO strengthened. Bulgaria etc now giving Ukraine its old Russian jets in return for shiny US F16s etc. Russian kit being shown to be crap vs western AT and drones, so that’s their export markets f**ked too.
