If he takes Ukraine, and I agree on sheer force of numbers that he probably will, can he hang on to it/exit on the terms he wants? I honestly don't know, and I also don't know the long term effect of the new norms which are being drawn up, not just for Russia's own ethnic populations but fairly obviously for Taiwan and to an extent Yemen, Syria, Iran and so on.

Football is obviously very far down the list of concerns but it's interesting that whereas actual murderers are indeed fit and proper people to own football clubs according to the FA, even proximity to a warmonger seems to rule someone out de facto if not de jure (I'm thinking Newcastle, Chelsea obviously). And ignoring human rights abuses in return for money has a long history certainly in this country - anyone remember Death Of A Princess and everything KSA has done since which we've turned a blind eye to as a nation, cos cor, that really is a big cheque, thank you?
