When my dad used to take my brother to the football

Back in the 1950s, after they came home after the match their neighbour would ask the result. If the team had lost she knew her husband would drink too much and abuse her - so my father’s quick result service ensured she could take her children to her parents for the evening. Just a wee illustration and I’m sure there are many more in every town, every night. Domestic abuse is very real, far too common and I applaud Harriet Robson for what she’s done and beyond despondent that this had to happen to her. I hope she makes it easier for all the Harriets (and yes, it can also be the Harrys) out there to take action but most of all I hope it’s easier because something is done about it.
