but surely we need someone with some of tactical acumen who can realise that Lampard and Gerrard are ineffectual when together? or how about someone that doesn't make mind-boggling tactical decisions or ill-timed substitutions?
Granted, anyone else bar the England managers candidates could make those errors, but the truth is that these things are rife in the current set up and we are all familiar with the consequences of them. Just appointing McClaren could potentially prolong these errors.
No to McClaren, yes to someone who is tactically astute.
