I did my first degree in chemistry!

At UEA, actually. Forgotten a lot of it, though. More recently did astrophysics and mathematics, so that's more my thing now. Especially interested in cosmology & GR/BHs.

I have read one Paul Davies book, but that was on time. And agree abiogenesis is a bit of a hand wavy field at the moment but, yeah, based on our current understanding it looks like it's not an easy thing to happen. I mean just looking his on Earth: we have no evidence that it has happened more than once even here where conditions are ideal - all life on Earth that we have studied so far is all related of course - it all descends from one abiogenesis event. When I was at UEA my supervisor was working on molecular self-organisation, actually.

I'm completely with Sabine Hossenfelder and how elegance and mathematical beauty can lead physicists astray.

Hawking's stuff is right up my street!
