yeah, sledging is another funny one

in that there's some famously funny examples often rolled out, but then you occasionally hear of the streams of humourless, offensive invective that a batsman is barraged with and it makes the whole thing feel pretty cheap.

Like you say, sanctions/warnings feel like they could help - as it's really got nowt to do with the sport.

(nb - I run a badminton club, and have always been quite fond of the gamesmanship side of sport and intrigued by the ways in which you can get a phycological edge in a game - but for me that's always been a subtle thing, not just bellowing abuse at someone until you wear them down - more the way that you act/react to close calls etc)
