Helveg will not stay. I was hopeful that he would but having been thinking about it.......

I have come to the conclusion that he will not stay.

You have to ask why would he want to stay here and play for us in the Championship? The only reason i can think of is that he has one year left on his contract and he will be loyal and see it out. But money i would imagine is not really an issue for Thomas now, that is why he signed for us in the first place.

I have seen him quoted as saying that he and his wife would like to return to Denmark when he has finished in England so that they can start a family. He is also having a house built for him in Denmark, a family home no doubt. He is 34 now and his wife i am guessing is in her early thirties, now i am not being sexist but if she wants to have kids she is probably going to want to do it sooner rather than later bearing in mind that female fertility declines dramatically from 35 onwards. Helveg and his wifes familily and friends are all in Denmark which must pull him towards there. If we were playing in the Premiership that you could understand him wanting to stay to play in big stadiums against top clubs and players but really what allure does playing in the Championship have for him?

I think that he will prefer to go back to Denmark and start thinking about starting his family. If you put yourself in his shoes what would you do?
