But yeah, I do agree they shifted away from it on the black album, but still, what an utterly brilliant rock album it was and still is. Timeless. Kinda like Back in Black was for AC/DC.
I completely don't agree about filling a side of an album though, you could piss a double album of classic Metallica tracks easily and only I speak as a fairly passive fan. The entirety of Master of Puppets and The Black album would make it on alone.
Within the metal genre, they are a very big deal.
