Trouble is there are a few sides who are really nothing special who have got a head start

Brentford and Brighton being two of them, possibly Palace as well. Its a shame they are not all 3 or 4 points closer to us albeit none of them are out of reach.

What seems to happen is once these weaker sides get comfortably set in mid table they let each other win with sh*t performances every so often and the points get shared around. Not a deliberate thing i'm sure, more a sub-conscious thing out of feeling they are relatively safe.
