Including us were using other badges on shirts based on nicknames and most of them designed new ones which were trademarked.
There was a competition in the Evening News to design the badge which is why the current one has all the problems in the digital world as it was drawn by a fan and, unlike a lot of other “new” designs from that time has not really aged.
