Maybe...

With all the caveats about comparing different eras I do think that there's a decent argument to be made that the likes of Sutton, Wes, Crook, Bowen, Watson could have that title (of the years I've watched).

Dean Ashton almost won an Fa cup singlehandedly...

Emi has been brilliant in this era, and is a vital cog in how we've played for three years and will be very hard to replace. His understanding with Pukki has been the making of them both.

I like to see our ex players doing well (except for against us) and will feel the same about Emi when he moves on, but we've been good for him in turn, and the way the team is set up now there's an exciting crop of potential following too (Idah, Dowell, Sorenson, Martin, mumba, Barden, Soto).

None of the new guys will be Emi, but this doesn't feel like the bad old years where we'd sell our best players and replace them with steadily worse journeymen. It's all part of the process. And I'm enjoying that flow, with all it's tides.
