Had tinnitus since a teenager - genetic in my case, apparently!

I was referred by my GP and have seen a hearing therapist at the QEH a few times. I've been given an in-ear device that can be programmed to play white, pink or brown noise or soothing sounds of nature. Mine is currently playing the sound of waves crashing on a beach which really calms the annoying low hum that I hear in my left ear all the time now. The high-pitched 'tinny' noise I have heard for many years in both ears no longer bothers me and the device, providing I wear it for at least 6 hours per day, is helping to habituate the hum so my brain just ignores it, like it does with the noise I have had for many years. There are some good things out there to help that are worth trying. Good luck with it all.
