Kids for a quid
I remember that around late 90s. Used to take me son who was about 8 years old. Gates were only about 17000. Loads of empty seats in corners and upper tiers. Parking the car for free was easy. The football wasn't great at the time. Yet from this time, attendances increased and the football improved. All those kids are now hardcore and a few of them probably run their own fan channels!
