Shouldn't affect your Ipod as such..

the quality of the songs will still be as good as they would be be with USB 2.2. It sounds like you still have USB 1.1, where as the more up to date USB connections run at 2.2, this just means that updating your Ipod, charging the battery etc, will take longer.
