What you probably haven't heard, because, well, it doesn't help with the reopening case...
...is that secondary teachers are basically way more likely to catch the virus than the general public in their work. You will have noticed, I hope, that the second wave and newer variants seem to be affecting younger people as it moves on. And what is more, it is not just a case of death being the only outcome that matters; plenty of people are seriously affected for a considerable length of time and with potentially serious consequences. Finally, not all teachers are young and fit, in fact due to the consistent lack of funding and status given the profession over the last decade, recruitment of the young is a major problem.
But there you go. You hear what you want to hear.
