it's the role of every central midfielder everywhere to defend. quite a lot recently he has simply allowed players to stroll past him with the ball and not even attempt to either make a tackle or to track the player.

he's been a disgrace recently, whether that's through not trying or not thinking it's his job to out a foot in.
