In reputable journals discussing the ways in which the time lines have been compressed for these trials and explaining how this time compression is not actually bypassing any of the safety steps.

The main issues that hold up vaccine testing are:

Funding

Getting large enough test groups

Getting enough exposure of said groups to infection to gain data.
