The Commander in Chief used to live up there
Alwick Castle. Where Harry Potter was filmed.
Holy Island/ Lindisfarne.
Bamburgh. A big Castle overlooking the sea.
Angle, small seaside town. Sometimes it's possible to see dolphins.
Kielder forest. Reservoir, observatory several visitors centres and trails.
Durham isn't far away.
Barnard Castle to get your eyes tested.
Hartlepool maritime museum. I can recommend this as you can go on HMS Trincomalee.
