Advice - Who on here is familiar with Northumberland?
Usually myself and t'other half take a last minute booking somewhere in Europe in late September. That isn't going to happen this year for obvious reasons. So we are strongly considering Northumberland / Scottish Borders for a week. It's probably the only part of England I'm not very familiar with. The question is to optimise sightseeing, scenery etc where should we stay? Probably looking at 3 nights staying in two different places. It's a given fact that the weather will be crap so not bothered about that.
Advice from anyone who knows the area well appreciated.
