I don't think nothing was attempted

I understood that some deals fell through, and Amadou was a genuine attempt at part of the solution too (because as the fullbacks bomb on so much you need quality at the back of midfield to cope). Deals falling through and not every signing working out is something all clubs have to deal with; and we didn't have the budget to do as much as we'd have liked last summer. We've not had the rub of the green with injuries either; but recruitment at the back was disappointing - I'm quite certain to The Powers That Be as well as to us. Ironically I think we'll spend more this summer than we did last, because we're now in a much stronger position.
