Like for many people it's been great to lose the commute

1) I've been lucky that my typical commute has never been horrific, but over the past twenty years, I'd not really noticed how it had gradually taken longer and how the traffic had gotten increasingly problematic. I'm easily saving myself over an hour of stress per day.

2) I had a lot of homeworkers in my team, even before this. Now that everyone is homeworking the teleconferencing has finally improved and is usable. Culturally, everyone is more connected than they have been in years. My team no longer 'need' me in the office for the occasions they drop in.

3) I've never loved the house I live in, but the last four months have helped me really appreciate what I've got. Making a small home office a couple of years ago when my daughter took the 'guest' bedroom has made working from home much more comfy. Sorting out the garden and getting a summershed last year has allowed us space to escape to, even when the weather hasn't been ideal.

4) am eating more healthily (at lunch time in particular) and am shopping more locally, supporting my local community.

5) am saving significant amounts of money from less petrol and less eating/drinking out. Am spending that directly to support arts and charities whose work I appreciate.

There has, of course been a f**ktonne of rubbish stuff too, but there's a lot of things I'll want to continue to hold on to as this unspools and it's made me much more aware of the many things for which I should be grateful.
