This seems like a fairly textbook bad idea

You're in London so higher risk, loss of smell is a major Covid symptom according to WHO (even if UK says it isn't) especially if under 40, 7 days is not long enough to quarantine (again uk says that but other countries say at least 14 days) and quarantine includes you and wife, they are in Newcastle so if you give it to them you are helping to spread it around, nothing to do with whether it's in rules or not, not a good idea if you were completely symptom free but to me would be completely crazy if you think there is any chance you have it. Stay safe.
