I'm pretty sure wearing a mask is more about protecting others from you

Wearing a mask might stop you form infecting surfaces another person touches.

If you wear a mask then chances are you're going to be constantly touching your face to reposition it as it moves. I've seen so many interviews on TV recently with people doing this as they talk.
