It’s a clanger but there’s some funny business going on with that photo

For one thing the media are glossing over the fact that if you read the original story the mum says he was treated quickly in A&E and this photo was taken after he’d been discharged from there and was waiting for a bed to be monitored for the night. She also says she put him on the floor as he wanted to sleep and it appears only had a chair.

It’s clearly not ideal for anyone to have to wait for a bed, especially not a child, but waving around photos with no context of background info is a bit questionable.

That said it’s Johnson’s perceived reaction that is most damaging, not the story itself.
