I think that highlights just how unsuited Hanley is to our style

we really need defenders who are mobile, comfortable going into full back positions, capable defending 1v1 and good on the ball. Hanley is none of these things. What we don't really need is an old fashioned centre back used to playing deep with lots of protection around him, defending the area, getting blocks and winning headers.

I think Hanley would be great in a Hughton team, but he's terrible for us right now. I agree that whether or not Zimmermann or Klose would be significantly better and solve all the problems is very debatable; but they certainly suit our style a lot better than Hanley does.
