Stints in the premier league....

Prompted by the assertion below from Old Man, that "there's no such thing as an established premiership [sic] team, outside the top six"

...I just had a quick look at how long the other clubs currently there have been in the top division.

As I said below, standing out massively from everyone else is Everton, who've been in the top division for 65 unbroken years. I think you can call that established.

Other than that though?

The longest stint of anyone else is .... Southampton and West Ham, jointly. Next season will be their seventh consecutive season in the top flight, in both cases.

After that you've got Palace - next season will be their sixth. Then Leicester (5th consecutive season coming up). And then Bournemouth and Watford - next year is their fourth.

Bottom line - Everton aside, he's basically right, no? Though I guess you could say Soton, West Ham, Palace and Leicester are getting there. None of whom I've ever thought of as being *that* much bigger than us - though West Ham's freebie stadium probably means they now are.
