One option is a lot easier than the other, for sure. Maybe he didn’t volunteer the article, perhaps the journalist went to him and he merely answered some questions. If that were the case, all you have here is a man getting on with his job in somewhat negative conditions and then having a whinge. Kind of like most people but magnified considerably.
